Doesn't the 803 allow use of the center channel? and have dolby?

it just clips in the back. two seconds with the unit out.

Dolby proLogic with center channel up front
Center channel powered by Hu803.
Speakers powered by amps (PA200 or 300 if I remember correctly).

Hu803 fits 2001-2004
Hu850 fits 2005+
No backward compatibility

Generally speaking: sound hands down better than the 601.
To make this happen, you would need center channel upfront and the amps (PA200/300) to power the speakers.
Not sure about wiring....

If someone needs a Hu850 for a 2005+ car, let me know. got one that I wanted to put in place of my hu803.
Works fine except the steering wheel controls & back lights were not working.
so the backward compatibility remark was from personal experience.

I would get my hand on this Hu803 if I had the funds available... (my 803 ate a CD a while back)
Funds gone with my EST catback.... and the minister of finance may have a heart attack.
250$ is cheap for the condition of the unit on sale...
so if no one take this one I may be serioulsy tempted....

no software needed as far as I know.
for the wiring... quickly checked in vadis and it seems to be the same
between the 601 and the 803. you'll need the amp (PA200 or 300) to power the
front/rear speakers as the 803 only powers the front channel.
I would check with the stealership to make sure....

I got the 803 and and the whole steup is just perfection.

I've only installed refurbished units and they all needed software. I imagine that this one would as well to "introduce" it to the car, but I'll check today.

This will need software when installed in a new vehicle.
