Time has come.
I have decided to sell my 1999 Volvo S70 T5 5 speed. It has ~106k miles on the clock, I bought it in January with 99k miles (7k miles in 10 months). I bought it from a lady a couple towns over from me. She owned it since (not positive) ~2002. I am the third owner of the car.
Maintenance:
Have all records from PO, also had all software updates done for the ETM
Just did the 105k mile service which includes, timing belt, roller, tensioner, water pump, serp belt and the radiator fluid was flushed. The job was done by Dr. Dons which is a Volvo Specialist Shop in New Milford, CT. ~650$ job
Front brake pads are being replaced this weekend with PBR metal masters, rotors are good, rear pads are good.
Brake fluid was flushed and replaced ~1000 miles ago
Oil changed every 3000 miles with 10w-30 NON synthetic.
Checked the sway bar end links, they were in good condition as of 3000 miles ago.
Contipro all season tires with ~3000 miles on them
New rear shocks
New Spark Plugs
Tasteful Upgrades:
IPD special order 25mm Rear Sway bar
True cold air intake
OBX turbo back exhaust
Brass Shifter Bushings
OEM 17" Neptune wheels
Amplifier Pre Amp adapter (wiring harness in the back of the head unit for the pre-amps)
VDO boost gauge mounted in driver side air vent
CI Motorsports manual boost controller (set to 10 psi)
Optima Red Top
PLEASE NOTE: I have all the stock factory pieces (excluding battery). I have the stock sway bar, exhaust, air box, even the factory air vent and flap. These are included in the price.
Exterior: 8 out of 10
The paint still shines like its from the factory. I wash it every 2 weeks and normally quick wax it. Every 3 months since ownership I do a 5 step detail which includes 3M hand glazing the car then Mothers pure carnauba wax (not liquid but wax form). The Wheels are mint, no scratches or curb rash. The head light wipers still work perfectly, no lights are out. No major dents or busted body parts. Non the less the car is almost 10 years old. It has some small paint chips here and there, and there is a small door ding. The rear bumper got a little scuffed up from the PO.
Interior:
9.9 out of 10
The inside of this car is beautiful. No scratches, rips, stains. leather is still soft and shiney. No interior lights out, all the speakers are in fine working order. It really is clean. The front floor matts have wear on them (what do you expect after 106k miles) but the carpet underneath is mint. Only thing that disturbs me is the passenger side window switch got all sticky from the rubber aging. The carpet in the trunk is still in good condition, it is a little dirty though.
The irritants:
Not uncommon with volvos, the car burns oil. I needs a quart about every 800-1000 miles.
The Check engine light is on because of the OBX exhaust (no cat). I am going to try and get that fixed this weekend as well. I will get the codes read this weekend to make sure that the CEL is only coming from the exhaust.
All in all it is a very clean example of a T5. Any one from travis's house over the summer will tell you the car looks good. I will be honest, its not perfect but for a 10 year old car there is not much better of an example you can find. This car is also going to be featured in the Nov/Dec issue of IPD's news letter which might give you an example of how clean I tried to keep the car.
I did not want to sell this car but financially I have run into a dead end and need to start saving what I can. I know there are cheap T5's out there that you can get and have to drop a couple hundred or even thousand to keep running. With the maintenance done to this car you should be set to not buy any thing for it. I want to get 7500$ for the car. Keep in mind you wont need brakes, tires, shocks, end links, radiator fluid, brake fluid, or most other regular maintenance for a while.
Any questions e-mail me at Ian.Carr4@gmail.com or you can call me at 203-770-1006 (cell). Any one is welcome to come look at the car and take it for a test drive, it is located either at my house in Fairfield, CT or at my dads house (weekends) near Danbury, CT.
Thanks every one,
Ian Carr
