JHEIII874T5M Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 here's how my buddy put it:Last night on the Sawgrass me and Joe are crusing at like 60, some red Vette comes up to us and decides to be big and bad and pick on a Volvo. So he gunned it, and we played catch up, reeling this guy in hard, especially after 100. So we line up and I see the guy give me the finger, im like what. I roll the window down and I say "Slow down, let's do a 40 roll". The oh so intelligent man replies "**** you!". So I just laugh, Joe holds his gear, I think we are doing about 55 or 60, Vette guns it, we pull about 1 and a half cars ahead, Around 80 or 90, Vette pulls uip slightly but at 100ish Joe pulled out and put another car on him. The guy's penis extenstion was now disarmed and he was angry, very angry so he started cursing at us, so I just went crazy and shouted stupid obscenities at him. The race is on video, Joe should post today sometime, accidentaly recorded me shouting at the guy too. Appeared to be a 1990 Vette..I dont know, I only like C5s and older Stingrays, never interested in the C4s much. But I did tell the guy, "Dude your car's slow! You got pulled by my grandma's Volvo you fag!"yea... he got it right RIGHT CLICK ME AND CLICK SAVE TARGET AS

I gunned it, then let off just to bait him in again... then I saw him come up on my rear fender and gun it, soo that means he went first and so he had the jump but o well, guess you'd have to listen to exhaust notes to figure that one outso that's why he was gaining on me, you'll notice right at the end I started to even it out and inch away.

JHEIII874T5M Posted August 29, 2004 Author Report Posted August 29, 2004 right, he let off at the very end, thank god cuz I was at the end of 3rd gear, started at about 80ish, ended past redline in 3rd at 110, and these H-Rated tires are only rated at 110 lolIf you look closely enough you can tell I had to even out our distance since he got a jump of momentum on me, if we had gone at the same time I'd have about a fender on him

But you still didn't really beat him like you should have. The early C4 Corvettes were pretty darn slow up top, so you would/should have beat him if your car was stock and/or in good running condition. I could remember this one occasion where I absolutely trounced on an early C4 when the middle-aged driver I guess was showing off to his kid sitting shotgun. I'm stopped at a light right before a freeway on-ramp where he pulls up, both of them smiling seeming like are having a good time. They leave off the light pretty hard and proceed to merge in front of me, opening it up halfway through the on-ramp about three car-lengths in front of me. By the time we were on the freeway, I was a good two car-lengths in front him at ~115. As they caught up and passed, I received blank stares from both the driver and passenger. That was when I was completely stock. And you guys still need to grow up.

I should really change those out

doront5 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 i once had a run with a 96-95 c4... we both kickdowned from 2nd to 1st i jumped on him 1 car untill 160km/h and then at 160 i started pulling real hard on him....he was shocked but i think he went nice since he could hang with me untill 160km/h.....the lt1 camaros at 160km/h are way way behind(= no cursing though in my race...cheers

turbor850 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 my conclusion . . . . . .The Volvo was looking quick.The passenger sucked at Video Taping to a degree.The LT1 isn't fast at all.The LT1 only runs 13.9 stock if I remember?The Volvos are always quicker from a roll and can beat cars with quicker 1/4 mile in some cases. (hence my friend runs 13.6 Mustang/14.2 S60R and from 60 I can stay even and then pull up top 110 mph when S60R in FWD)The LT1 got what he deserved.BUT . . . .was the LT1 automatic ?was the 850 running 13 psi ?was the 850 punching it first ?
swdracr Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 I've watched it a couple times now and I can't seem to find the part where you beat him by 1+ car lengths.. It looks like you just hung with him.
