OK, i have gone through trials and tribulations and listened to some quick advice not following my gut of troubleshooting first - then replace part. I skipped the troubleshooting hoping that it would fix the problem.

Thus - starting over.... How do you test the ABS wheel sensors to see if they are operating properly?

The next area is the hydrolic pump. Lastly - the ABS computer?

Thanks.

What is the year and model of Volvo you have?

95 and earlier, the ABS does not fail (at least not common problem)

96 and newer there are very good chances the ABS control unit has failed.

If you want to troubleshoot, the #1 step is to read the ABS codes. Dealer or properly qualified/equiped Indy shop will perform.

A wiring diagram is needed for some of these tests.

ABS wheel sensors generate a pulse that goes to the ABS control unit. A digital oscilloscope with screen capture would let you see the pulse and compare all the sensors signal.

A continuity test will let you see if the wiring and inner circuit of the sensor is not broken. Also this test to ground would let you see if you have a short to ground.

Read this information. It may help you decide.
