Platinum 850 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 So I had my 19T installed a while ago, just had been limiting my boost to 12psi, and just recently got my green injectors and put them in...My old Tune was for the stock 15G and it had been custom tuned based on dyno run, A/F, Boost readings. This is an Upsolute tune and the same guy will be doing a custom tune for the 19T with the green injectors, and he was thinking that after all was installed i woudl go to get the car dyno'd and he would create a custom tune based on the data collected. The other option was to find someone else who had a similar setup (19T with Green Injectors) and had used upsolute tuning that way he can narrow his search and have a base map in there and tweek it to fit my new setup...So if someone on this forum has used Upsolute Tuning for a similar setup as mine, i would be eager to get your info for Upsolute to use that file as the base for my tune and build on that.In the mean time i was curious to see how the car would run on the bigger injectos and it started off like this...So it took some time for the Air Fuel Ratio to straighten out (reading of my WB), I was seeing 10.7 when first started and still cold, but eventually it got up to bouncing betweed 14.5 to 15.2 perfectly...So i figured what the heck why dont i take it for a spin and see what difference i notice...So at 10psi really no difference, but diffenetly running rich (10.0 on the WB)at 12psi still rich very rich bumped up my EBC settings to accomodate higher boost.at 15psi still very rich and now the car seems to sputter as the boost goes up... which makes sense really not the most ideal conditions for ignition when AF is stuck on 10 which is the lowest the WB will read which could mean that it is probably even lower (very very rich)so my predicament is i dont think i can generate any useful data during the dyno run for the custom tune.So anyone with a similar setup please feel free to chime in...Thanks in advance
Chilled man Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 shoudl just sell the Upsolute tune .Get a ST for 17psi and ditch the greensI just use the stock 17psi tune with ST and MBC at 20psi and runs like a fiend and doesnt run rich at all. havnt tuned or anything else and average 20mpg city and 26 highway

Once the guy has a correct file he can flash it to my ECU in an hours time, opposed to sending out my ECU...But thanks for the input

Boost_Junky Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 yeah using stock whitesI need to get dynoed just to see where I am at , but it seems to run fine and runs like a raped pig Without a tune your are not making as much power as you could. Your A/F ratio may seem fine but you should confirm on a dyno, like you mentioned.
lookforjoe Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I'm using Blues, 19T 20-24psi perfect AFR's on the IPD 15psi tune. Don't think you need the greens at all.

I need another manual ECU so I can put something in the coupe till I get ?
SomeGuy Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 with the sputtering up around 15 psi on that turbo it might just be your plugs as well. . . what ones are you using? On an 18t running the irridiums I couldnt get boost above 14 or 15 without sputtering until I switched over to the NGK BKR6E

On an 18t running the irridiums I couldnt get boost above 14 or 15 without sputtering until I switched over to the NGK BKR6EI was running well over 15psi on my 15G with stock injectors (orange 310CC), i had problems with iridiums as i approached 17psi and switched out to coppers and they have held up great. I am pretty sure its not the plugs. I just need it retuned for the new setup...I am gonna contact my tuner and have him flash back to the stock ECU settings for my car. This way my fuel trims will be leanter then they are now and maybe when i go to get it dyno'd i can get some usable data above 12psiI appreciate the input thus far thanks everyone...

Don't think you need the greens at all.are you running blues at 3 bar or 3.8 bar on your car? in other words are you running them as 350cc or 395cc? cause if you are running blues at 3.8 then you are getting 395cc (supposedly) and that in comparison to the greens at 3bar will only yield 420cc (the 468cc is at 3.8bar) 420 to 395 is not that great of a difference...I am certain that with a proper tune i can utilize them for this application
Chilled man Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008  Go buy a set of VOLVO OEM PLUGS call the guy in my sig there less then $35 shipped ask Lookforjoe about his plug problems and what fixed them
troyhyde Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 The other day I bought 4 sets (20 plugs) of Champions RC7YC's. Came to $34 and change from Napa.Just as good as OEM.
randomdude Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 oh sweet mother jebus, ^^ here it goes again. OP, your thread will now become a heated discussion about spark plugs

Platinum 850 Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 I used coppers (BKR6E's) but they blow out above 20-21psi - Stock Volvo turbo plugs work wonders I'll check out the oem plugs after i get the mapping issue figured out...Stock fuel pressure regulator ('98) - which I believe is 3bar, no?it is a 3bar fuel pressure regulator, so we are looking a 350 - 360cc in comparison the the greens 420cc, I gues there's a bit of a difference. I just was upgrading from my orange ones and didn't want to run the risk of ever running lean. I am assuming you have a wideband, and your A/F ratios are in order... If the retuning or remapping doesn't solve this issue then the next step will be to get smaller injectors... But i dont think that it will be an issue once the holidays are over and people are back at it, I can have my ECU reprogrammed soon, I hope...
