Vechicle ID plate Information
What all the numbers mean

1 &2 show the location of two of the plates, number 2 is the VIN only, Number 1 is under the hood on the inside of the fender.
Number 3 is the Vechicle type
Number 4 is for the model year, P=1993, R=1994, S=1995, T=1996, V=1997, W=1998
Number 5 is Factory code, 1=Sweden, 2=Belgium, 3=Canada, 4=Thailand, 5=Malaysia, 7=Indonesia, 8=Phillipines, H=Special cars
Number 6 is the Chassis number
Number 7 is Manufacture code YV1 is Sweden, Volvo
Number 8 is Vechicle type, L=850
Number 9 is number of doors, S=4door, W=5door
Number 10 is Engine Type, 50=B5234T4, 51=B5252S, 55=5254FS, 57=B52334FT, 58=B5234T5
Number 11 is an emissions code
Number 12 is a check figure
Number 13 is the model year
Number 14 Factory code
Number 15 is the Vechicle serial number
Number 16 is market code
Number 17 is the interior Trim code
Number 18 is the paint code number for the car
Number 19 Special vechicle number
Number 20 is Spring support
Number 21 Stabilizer bar front
Number 22 Shock absorbers rear
Number 23 is the rear spring
Number 24 Stabilizer bar rear
Number 25 is Bump rubber rear, front.
Most of the information on the ID plate is used by the parts department when they need interior trim code, paint codes or suspension information.
